Baby Jesus or boat?

Baby Jesus                  or                 Boat?

Mitch has made up his mind... a boat

After his bath the other night Mitch played with baby Jesus.  He ran around naked saying boat, boat, boat.  That "boat" went sailing all over, even on Oli's head.

Lap Please

Mitch has shown some interest in holding Molly.  He will climb up on the couch next to us, point to his lap and say please.  His smile was so big when I put Molly in his lap.

Chillin'

When Jeff went hunting for Elk last month, I went to Vashon with the kids.  I gave Papa Dave a hard time about the house temperature and he built a warm fire for us (My house is usually 75° with our wood stove).  When the playroom warmed up with the fire I stripped Mitch down to his diaper.  He then added some boots and a stroller to his outfit.  This is the kind of photo that you save to torture your child with later.

Say cheese

Molly can smile now.  I tried to capture an example but she was too quick and wiggly to get a good one.

Healthy baby. 10 fingers, 9 toes?!?!

We are happy our little Molly is growing and gaining weight each and every day.  However our healthy baby does have a little quirk on her right foot.  Her second and third toes are fused/webbed together.  The toe will not cause any delay with walking or running.  We will eventually meet with a specialist to see if we want to try and separate the toes.  Due to the surgery being a cosmetic procedure it won't be an option until Molly is at least 18 months old.

I love my sister

I wanted to change Mitch's diaper so I put Molly down in Mitch's crib.  Before I got Mitch on the changing table he climbed into the crib.  He laid down next to Molly and kept saying "baby" over and over.  Their interaction was cute and I know it will be even better once Molly can interact back.  (As long as they are both gentle and not hitting each other).

First day on our own

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday I take Mitch to daycare and spend the rest of the day resting and catching up on sleep with Molly.  On Tuesday and Thursday I have both kids at home with me.  Here's a picture of the three of us on our first day by ourselves.  Mitch got a scratch on the face from chasing the cat all day (she finally fought back).

Welcome Molly

It's a GIRL!!
Molly Carroll Mitchell was born 10/16/2011 at 10:27pm.  She was 7 lbs 14 oz and 21 inches.

I started feeling "off" about 6:30pm.  We called our mothers to ask for for help and called the midwife to let them know things had started.   Talked to the midwife and agreed to meet at the Birth Center at 8:30 (originally she wanted to meet at 9pm but I was worried that would be too late, since Bonnie's delivery the day before was only 3.5hrs).  Upon arrival I was dilated to 9cm but my water was still in tack.  After waiting for the water to break on its own for over an hour the midwife offered to break my water.  We had our baby girl in my arms less then 10 minutes later.

Thank you to Genelle for staying at our house to watch Mitch so Jeff and I could go to the Birth Center.  Thank you to Debbie who met us at the Birth Center and got me much needed food after delivery.

Visit to the beach

Jeff took the whole family to the beach trying to enjoy the last bit of decent weather. Oli loved the attention and went swimming for sticks. Mitch had to be held so that he wouldn't go swimming. Although the day was nice, the Puget sound water was not warm enough for little boys.

Want to be like dad

Here are a couples pictures of Jeff's mini-me, Mitch.

Jeff mowing the lawn. Mitch followed him by a couple steps, back and forth. Good practice for when mowing the lawn becomes Mitch's chore.

Jeff cutting out an old window. Mitch was watching him from our bed.

The saw was a little loud so mom put in some ear plugs for protection.

Climbing up the ladder by himself. We are working on climbing down the ladder.

Vroom Vroom

When Mitch sees a motorcycle or even a bicycle he starts to say "Vroom Vroom". At first it was just an "ooo ooo" sound, but he is getting more of the "r" and the "m" now. Here he is in front of Grandpa Dave's motorcycle (recently handed down to us)

Helper

Mitch loves the vacuum. When I bring it out to suck up some of Oli's hair he hops on. I have to be careful dragging the vacuum behind me because I may gain an extra passenger.

Mission Impossible

Mitch likes to test his capabilities. The other day he spotted the baby monitor on the computer desk. He was getting on his tippy toes and grunting to reach it. I kept trying to get a picture of him on his toes but none of them turned out. I even "reset" the scene to get him to try again but I still missed the tippy toe picture.

On the move

Mitch doesn't sit still for long. It seems like most of the pictures we take turn out like this.
